Junior Results Summary Rd 2 (Rain affected 😥)
21 Oct by Brendan Denning
Only our Sunday teams were able to take to the field on the weekend just gone. Let’s hope we don’t have many (any?) more wet weekends like the one we’ve just had! Read on for the Sunday U13’s first win and the U18 successful debut:
Sunday U13A Yarraville CC 4/135 (24) def West Point 9/63 (24)
A great performance from the team today & such an even spread of contributors also which was especially pleasing.
We were off to great start thanks to knocks from Hamish McCluggage 25, Tom Kelly 20* & Teddy Tindall 15*. Our middle order was also super strong with Orson Macwirther Hall 5*, Kieran Murthy 16* & Ryan Garcia 14* all retiring. 5 players retiring is disciplined batting.
We took the ball and improved again in the field: 7 individual wicket takers, led by Ryan with 2/5, three great catches and a run out. Zero runs conceded from overthrows too was also super pleasing. 👏🏻
Great to get our first win for the 2024 season away🦅 Scott Tindall
Sunday U18 Div 1 Yarraville CC 5/214 (36) def Keilor 2/133 (36)
The inaugural Yarraville Fledglings Under 18 team kicked off at McIvor Reserve at the weekend and it was a great start by the lads.
After losing the toss on a cracking wicket which was hard, green and quite quick we got off to a great start with Mubi and Nirhav putting on 111 for the opening partnership. Mubi made 36 whilst Nirhav smashed a well played 75 off 73 rocks including 5 sixes!!
We made a very good 5/214 off our allotted 36 overs which would be tough to chase given our bowling depth.
Keilor applied themselves well but were never able to gain momentum due to our terrific enthusiasm and energy with ball in hand by all and overall good fielding standards. The ball was shared around with Taha, Kanish, Sumar and Krishav being the pick of the bowlers and well supported by Aedan, Vihaan and Noah.
Keilor limped to 2/133 off their 36 overs which meant our young Eagles took the 6 points easily.
It was a great start to our campaign and a big thanks must go out to Simon and Yvette for managing the day. Michael Sheedy
